RC Audio Books Online

Audio books are a good way for busy moms to "pre-read" books. They are also fun for the family. All links are to books that are human-read. Some may be available as machine-read, but I don't think they are of good enough quality to put here. (Please let me know if I've accidentally linked to any machine-read books.)
Check back later, as more are released daily. (Some on this list are in the works.)

Free Audio-book Sites - There are many more free audio-books available that are suitable homeschool books, or just for entertainment. Try one of the following sites.

  • Librivox - read by volunteer readers. New, clear recordings.
  • Audio Books for Free - has good search filters for screening out unwanted books. The audio isn't a very high quality, but that may not matter to you.
  • Lit2Go - small, but growing selection of children's audio books.
  • Project Gutenberg - often these are just the Librivox recordings.

More audio sites you may enjoy, but ones where you probably won't find RC material.
Kiddie Records - free kid's stories (and some songs).
Children's Vinyl Record Series - more free kid's stories.
Let's Pretend Radio Show for children, with many classic fairy tales. Also see their other genres, including family radio shows.
Check you Local Library - and their web site. Not only do they often have cd audio books to borrow, many are now offering audiobooks to download temporarily, and may also offer MP3 players for checkout. (I believe the files cease to work when the time's up, so that it's legal.)
